This was my first time photographing a wedding at The West Mill Derby. I had heard about the venue and from the photographs I had seen online I was really excited to shoot here.
The guys got ready at the Penta Hotel in Derby, and I dropped in on them playing pool and having a few beers before everyone headed over to the venue. Claire got ready with an array of family, friends, flower girls, page boy & bridesmaids in the dressing room at the West Mill, so the atmosphere was buzzing when I arrived. Everyone was super excited.
The ceremony was held on the top floor, where the sunlight poured in through the large industrial windows. The space is stunning, and if you are looking for a cool, industrial style space for your day, this definitely delivers. The wedding breakfast was served on the first floor, and again benefitted from lots of lovely natural light, with retro black and white photographs hanging on the brick walls. Very cool.
It was a warm day, so guests enjoyed some drinks outside, again another gorgeous space, this place really does cater for every season. We did some family photos outdoors before heading off for a little stroll to the nearby river.
You really need to check out Claire's cape, which she opted for instead of a veil, it looks incredible! I love how she paired it with really minimal chic hair and a big beautiful smile! super cool and super stylish bridal babe right there!
The staff at The West Mill were awesome too and the whole day seemed to flow so effortlessly, all Claire and Ollie's family and friends were having the best day, drinking, chatting, eating, dancing, singing - everything you could hope for on your wedding day!
