Should I Have My Newborn Photoshoot At Home?

A family cuddles on a bed, a mother embracing a baby and young child, with a serene cat nearby. Warm tones, cozy atmosphere.

Is your little one incoming or have they recently made their appearance in the world?

Either way, you may have made the decision to book a photographer to document this momentous time for yourselves and your family... great decision!

Now you need to decide where to have your photoshoot, when you should book it in for and who you are going to choose to be your photographer!

Reasons why I love to photograph you and your newborns in your home

  1. Whatever the weather. We don't even need to keep an eye on the forecast, if we don't fancy venturing outside, we can just stay in the warm with your bundle

  2. Everything you and babe need is right there, no need to think about packing a bag, win.

  3. It's your home, your baby's first home. It's where you make your memories so much of the time. I love to document families in their homes so they have beautiful photographs in the place they will be spending time getting to know their newbie

  4. Window light. It's true... studio light can look really stunning. But for me... I would be so much more comfortable without any lights flashing or any kind of set up that I have to walk into. I am all about keeping it low key, to make it feel as natural and relaxed as possible, so you can just focus on cuddles with your beautiful baby

  5. All seasons. When those frosty mornings set in... let's have a cuppa and a cosy indoor shoot rather than whisking your teeny human out in the cold

  6. If there are older siblings, it works quite well if they need a break to just be at home. Then mums/dads can have a few pics with just baby a little easier as they can be otherwise entertained : )

The other great thing about having your newborn photoshoot in your own home... is the flexibility. These guys had theirs in November... and out came some gorgeous winter sun, so we ventured out into the garden for the last 20 minutes. There is also the option to go for a walk for a portion of your shoot or even a short drive away if you wanted to try and have both indoor and outdoor images with your little one. Feel free to ask about any location combo if that is something you like the idea of : )
