Helllooooo lovely people
Ok, let's get stuck in....
I am going to give you a few things to think about on the run up to your couple shoot, these are just guidelines, the MOST important thing is that you enjoy this time together and get some photographs that feel like YOU
Time of Day
The light is usually at its prettiest at either sunrise or sunset, so depending on the time of year, these times can obviously change quite a bit, It can also depend on how cloudy the sky is amongst other things as to how epic the sunrise/set will be. I love to shoot at this time of day. If it is an outdoor session you are thinking of, this can work really well. The light is much softer than when the sun is high in the sky and much more flattering.
If you are planning on having an indoor shoot, it will work much better to arrange your shoot during daylight hours, that way we will benefit from lots of lovely natural window light.
Why not choose a location you love or have always wanted to visit...
If you love being outdoors and feeling the wind in your hair, a little hike in the hills would be a good shout. Or maybe you love the architecture of a particular city, we can make that happen too.
If you want to run any ideas by me just drop me an email and we can come up with a plan to get the most out of your session firstname.lastname@example.org
Wear something you love, feel good in, and feel comfortable in.
There are no rules here, everybody is different, they are your photos, so you think about how you want to look.
You could go for super chilled : jeans / shorts / t-shirt / vest kind of vibe
Swank it up : Dress / skirt / shirt / chinos
or anywhere inbetween
You can always wear a couple of layers which you can add remove during the shoot, or even accessories, hats, scarves, a blanket to wrap around you or sit on. Go crazy!
Avoid too many repetitive patterns, as these can look a bit muddled in an image. Think about what your outfits look like together too, make sure you are on the same page, and the colours don't clash too much. Choose footwear based on the location of the shoot, you don't want to be walking through a forest in stilettos.
Glasses vs contacts : If you have the option to wear contacts over glasses I recommend you go for it, or opt for non-reflective glasses if you have them available to you.
Direction / Posing
I want you guys to be really relaxed and just enjoy this time you have together, we will kick off with something really laid back, I might just photograph you guys as we stroll to our destination, I will give you little directions here and there, but I really want you to feel like you can be yourselves.
I don't really like the word posing, but I'm not sure what other word to use so let's just go with it. At some points during the shoot, I may suggest certain poses to start us off, these are just starting points and the last thing we want is for you to feel like you have to be a statue. Instead, I want you guys to relax into each other, get comfortable and sink into it.
You don't even have to think of it as a photoshoot, more of a hang out with your best one, getting all wrapped up in each other and feeling the love!
This is what it's all about.
You guys have a really special and unique bond, you know how to make each other laugh, you know how you fit together as a couple and we want your connection and love to come through in your photos. I will be giving you some direction as well as making suggestions of where to go to get the best light and compositions, you don't even have to look at the camera unless I ask you to. Easy peasy. It is the connection between YOU TWO, that is where the magic lies.
